Small Business Health Insurance Savings in Fall River, MA

Note: This was written before the advent of Health Savings Accounts with offer better protection and much better savings potential

BEFORE:

This company had always gotten their group health coverage from
one broker who was a customer. However, when they found out about
Health plan Specialists, they realized they had not seen all their group health
alternatives after all.

They had  a popular HMO with a regional network and had been paying $296/mo for an individual plan $570/mo for two people and $882 for a family but the rates were increasing to $341 for an individual; $657 for two people and $1018 for a family. The total for the group of 13 employees was going up to $7708/mo!

The plan had a $15 office visit co-pay and a $50 E.R. co-pay and a $10/$20/$35 Rx co-pay. It also had a $250 hospital admission co-pay and a $150 outpatient surgery admission co-pay.

Before discovering Health Plan Specialists, they were considering downgraded their plan to one with $25 office visit co-pays and a $500 hospital admission co-pay and a $250 outpatient surgery co-pay PLUS before the prescription 
drug co-pays would apply the plan had a $250 deductible  which would have had to have been satisfied. In other words, the insured would have to pay out $250 before the plan would cover any prescriptions.

This lesser plan would have cost $302 for an individual; $582 for two people and $901 for a family which STILL would have COST MORE FOR LESS COVERAGE.

AFTER:

Health Plan Specialists was able to show this group not only better coverage but for a LOT LESS COST. A PPO plan underwritten by John Alden Life Insurance Company, the largest provider of small group health insurance in the country, using the largest PPO in the country, Private Health Care Systems was proposed for all employees for a total of $5548 per month or an annual savings of OVER $26,000!. Included with the plan was a $20 office visit co-pay; a $15/$25/$50 Rx co-pay plan and rather than hospital admission co-pays as much as $500 PER INCIDENT the way their HMO plan had, this plan had simply one $500 annual deductible.

CONCLUSION/BOTTOM LINE:

Before, the group had a regional HMO with NO COVERAGE outside the network and with the Health Plan Specialists proposal, they have coverage ANYWHERE- both inside and outside the network with NO PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN REQUIREMENTS like they had with their previous plan INCLUDING a savings of over $26,000 per year! Health Plan Specialists
found this group better coverage for a LOT LESS COST and as a result, employee take-home pay also increased!
